Hi, I’m Alison and I’m a counsellor living and working in Seaford. I want to start 2024 by introducing myself to you and letting you know a little bit about me and the type of work I do.
Firstly, and I believe one of the most important things about me, is that I absolutely love the work I do. I feel so lucky to be able to work with people who are looking for help and support and to see them grow, change and develop whilst they work with me. To be able to see the magic of therapy in action is a constant source of delight, satisfaction and fascination to me.
You might be thinking, how can talking make you feel better? I can reassure you that for many people, being able to share thoughts, feelings and emotions sets them on a path of discovery, finding out what really matters to them and how they can move forward making the right choices for themselves.
It’s really important that you feel comfortable working with the right kind of therapist for you, you have to feel relaxed and able to talk openly with them. If you’re working with me, I’m quite informal, warm and friendly and I will take my lead from you – you decide what you would like to talk about with me and I will not criticise, judge you or tell you what to do. Instead, I’m here to listen to you, to empathise and to offer thoughts and impressions. We go at your pace and work on the stuff that is most important to you.
I’m lucky enough to have a whole range of clients, from young people through to those in their 60’s and 70’s. People come to me with a range of concerns and worries, including anxiety, stress, depression, loss, low self-esteem, bereavement, relationship concerns, suicidal thoughts, illness, anger, feeling overwhelmed – to name but a few.
I work with you in my calm and relaxed studio in Seaford, with a view to the sea. I also offer sessions online allowing my clients to be in the comfort of their own home. I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation for you to find out a little more, without any obligation.
Don’t just take my word for it, here is some feedback from my clients:
“I am not a talker, and tend to keep a lot of things to myself. However, Alison’s relaxed approach and understanding manner, made it extremely easy to open up and talk at length on various matters.”
“I found Alison to be immensely understanding to me during our sessions. To have Alison listen without judgement and to be able to talk through my situation helped me to put things into perspective. I am now moving forward with a more positive outlook.”
“Alison is a friendly, empathic and genuine counsellor with whom it is easy to share. She is gently challenging and attentive, a combination which enabled me to feel held, as we made order out of chaos.”
“Alison is warm and welcoming, making it easy to feel comforted and supported when finding the best way and time to acknowledge your challenges. Alison guides you to ask the right questions of yourself, enabling you to start finding and addressing the right solutions to move forward.”
“The time I spent with Alison was useful and enlightening. She was easy to talk to and always non-judgmental. She encouraged me to face my own dilemmas and draw my own conclusions without influence from her. I felt empowered to make my own decisions in a way that has positively improved my mental well-being. Thank you Alison. I am grateful to you for your help at what has been a difficult episode in my life.”
